Cooking is a great bonding activity you can do with your children at home.  Not only are you teaching your children about the various food groups.  You get the reward of tasting a dish you created together!

Daddy and Me Salsa

Salsa Recipe

Add all ingredients to a bowl for a healthy snack!

4 tomatoes chopped

1/4 cup chopped white onion

Fresh Cilantro

1 1/2 teaspoon lime juice

1 small garlic clove

A pinch of salt to taste

 

For an extra kick add jalapeno, serrano, or habenero peppers! 

Refrigerate and save for 3-5 days!

Grill Masters BBQ Glaze

Try this on your chicken or steak for a sweet and delicious flavor!

 

Whisk together the brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and pepper until the sugar has dissolved!

 

Rub on Chicken or Steak while grilling or use as a marinade!

Oatmeal Power Cookies

1 cup raisins

1/2 cup hot water

2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon  baking soda

2 eggs              

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup vegetable oil              

2 cups of Oats

1 teaspoon vanilla extract     

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Then soak raisins in hot water on the side.

Blend oats, sugar, and nuts together.

In a bowl beat eggs with fork and add oil, vanilla, raisins and water mixture. 

Pour into dry ingredients, stirring until well mixed.

Drop teaspoons of cookie batter two inches apart on a cookie sheet and bake for 10-13 minutes.
